Unless required by law, our products/ingredients are not tested on animals.
Here are product-specific details:
- Pads, liners and Cramp Care products - these products are never tested on animals
- Tampons - In the interest of full transparency, before 2016, legal standards required our manufacturer (and all manufacturers and brands who sell tampons in the US) to evaluate the safety of tampons by performing some animal tests prior to launching as part of the FDA’s 510(k) clearance application. Once a new tampon receives FDA clearance, no further testing is required unless there is a material change made to the tampon. As such, our manufacturers have not conducted any animal tests on our tampons since receiving FDA 510(k) clearance in 2015. We are thrilled that the FDA now supports cruelty-free methods of evaluating the safety of a new tampon in certain circumstances. In the event that we launch a new tampon, we will require our tampon manufacturing partners to demonstrate the safety of any newly developed tampons without the use of animal testing whenever possible.
At LOLA, we are wholly committed to a future without animal testing. We appreciate your concern on the topic, and welcome any further questions or follow-up to ensure you feel comfortable joining the LOLA community.
